Phillip Seymour Hoffman Swinging Into Spider-man?

Rumors are spreading that actor, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is in talks to play the lead villain in Marc Webb's 2012 "Spider-man" reboot. Now, on one side, no one knows which villain he's playing and on the other side, he's rumored to be playing the new Venom.
Hoffman playing Venom could be interesting, but he's a bit too old, as the character of Eddie Brock is similar ages to Peter Parker. Personally, I'd rather see Hoffman play Dr Connors and become The Lizard in the film.
